ODH Offers Health and Safety Tips for Back-to-School Season
August 21, 2026
The Ohio Department of Health is encouraging families to prioritize children’s health and well-being as students return to school. Parents are advised to check whether children are up to date on required vaccinations, complete necessary school health and medication forms and establish healthy routines for sleep and nutrition.
ODH also recommends planning safe routes for children who walk or bike to school and ensuring proper use of helmets, car seats and booster seats. Families should also watch for changes in children’s mental well-being and seek support from a health care provider when needed.
