Improving Maternal Health Outcomes – Addressing Care for Pregnant and Postpartum People with Substance Use Disorder
OHA’s Board of Trustees identified improving maternal and infant health as one of our key strategic focus areas. Ohio’s third Alliance for Innovation in Maternal Health, or AIM, initiative focuses on improving hospital staff readiness, recognition of and response to pregnant and postpartum patients with substance use disorder, or SUD.
Almost half (44%) of all pregnancy-related deaths were due to overdose
91% of those deaths were deemed preventable
Join Hospitals Participating in the AIM SUD Bundle
Hospitals that participate in the AIM SUD Bundle will test strategies and interventions to implement best clinical practices, including but not limited to implementing validated screening tools, addressing treatment needs including medication for opioid use disorder, or MOUD, and building collaboration and linkage to community supports and resources.
