Sean McGlone Named Next President and Chief Executive Officer of the Ohio Hospital Association
Following a National Search, OHA Board Appoints Organization’s Senior Vice President as Next Leader Effective Oct. 17, 2026
(Columbus, Ohio – 43215, Aug. 19, 2026) – The Ohio Hospital Association, the united voice of Ohio’s more than 250 hospitals and 17 health systems, announced today that Sean McGlone, Senior Vice President and General Counsel, OHA, will become the organization’s next president and chief executive officer effective Oct. 17, 2026.
“I am honored to be selected to lead the next chapter of the Ohio Hospital Association’s long history of service to hospitals,” said McGlone. “Ohio’s hospitals are pillars in their communities, providing 24/7 care to patients, supporting families in their time of need, serving our most vulnerable neighbors, and driving economic activity across the state. For most of my professional career I have taken great pride in advocating for the hospital community because of the incredible work hospitals do and I am honored the OHA Board has entrusted me to carry on the momentum created by Mike Abrams and his team. There will certainly be challenges ahead but I am optimistic that the unified strength of our industry will overcome those challenges so hospitals can continue to serve their communities with compassion and distinction.”
McGlone will succeed Mike Abrams who joined OHA as president and CEO in February 2012. Abrams announced his retirement earlier this year. The OHA Board of Trustees launched a search committee in March 2026 to conduct a national search for the organization’s next leader. The OHA Board appointed McGlone during a meeting last week.
“Sean brings proven leadership and advocacy experience as OHA’s next president and CEO,” said OhioHealth President and CEO Steve Markovich, MD, and OHA Board of Trustees Chair. “His vision, energy and ability to engage members, policymakers and partners will help ensure OHA continues to fulfill its mission and advance its strategic priorities of advocacy, economic sustainability and workforce.”
McGlone is an accomplished health care executive with nearly three decades of experience as an association leader, attorney and health care policy professional. As a member of OHA’s executive leadership team, McGlone has worked closely with the organization’s Board of Trustees and membership to shape and execute long-term strategic initiatives impacting health care policy in Ohio. He joined OHA in 2009 as associate general counsel and director of health policy. Before coming to OHA, McGlone worked at the health care practice group at Bricker & Eckler LLP (now Bricker Graydon Wyatt LLP), where he worked on a variety of issues impacting hospitals. His foundational experience in public policy includes serving as a legislative aide and caucus liaison for former Ohio House Speaker Jo Ann Davidson. He has a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Wittenberg University and a law degree from The Ohio State University.
“Sean’s service and leadership as a member of the OHA executive team have contributed significantly to our advocacy and health care policy strategies and success over the years,” said OHA President and CEO Mike Abrams. “His commitment to OHA’s mission and his respect of our members’ services and community impact will bring a new chapter of leadership for OHA and Ohio hospitals.”
