National Report Ranks Nurse Practitioner as Best Job in US

U.S. News & World Report ranked nurse practitioner as the No. 1 job in its 100 Best Jobs of 2025 list, highlighting the role’s high salary, strong demand and work-life balance. Specializing in areas like women’s health and pediatrics, nurse practitioners are increasingly filling primary care roles amid physician shortages. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects a 46.3% growth in nurse practitioner employment from 2023 to 2033, adding approximately 135,500 new jobs.

Ohio Department of Aging Hosting Town Halls to Shape 2027-2030 State Plan

he Ohio Department of Aging will host six statewide town halls in August and September to gather public input for the 2027-2030 State Plan on Aging. Older adults, caregivers and community members are encouraged to participate and share ideas to help Ohioans age with dignity, autonomy and improved health. The first session will take place Aug. 15 in Findlay, with additional events in Cambridge, Norwalk, Oxford, Columbus and Uniontown. Feedback collected will guide future aging policies and build on previous statewide listening sessions. Registration and a statewide needs assessment survey are available online here.

OSHFM Receives 2025 ASHE Chapter Award

The American Society for Health Care Engineering, or ASHE, on Sunday presented the Ohio Society for Healthcare Facilities Management, or OSHFM, with Bronze-level distinction as part of its 2025 ASHE Chapter Awards. The award presentation took place at the Health Care Facilities Innovation Conference in Columbus. The ASHE Chapter Awards recognize chapters that demonstrate exceptional partnership and impact in optimizing the health care physical environment. The recognition highlights OSHFM’s commitment to excellence and collaboration within the field. OHA members can join one of our seven professional societies at no extra cost. OHA Members Highlight Impact of AI on Pediatric Care in New Whitepapers

Two OHA member hospitals are sharing insights on how generative AI is transforming pediatric care. Dayton Children’s Hospital and Akron Children’s Hospital recently published whitepapers highlighting their use of Abridge, an AI platform for clinical documentation. Dayton Children’s CIO J.D. Whitlock emphasized the value of pediatrician-led design in Abridge’s development, helping clinicians give families their full attention. At Akron Children’s, Abridge led to a 95% retention rate among clinicians across 22 specialties and helped reduce burnout by 45%. Both hospitals report improved documentation efficiency, better coding accuracy and enhanced patient-provider interactions. Read more using the links for both hospitals above.
