The model connects classroom learning with real-time hospital practice, helping graduates enter the workforce with up-to-date skills. The Ohio Department of Medicaid, or ODM, is expanding its Next Generation MyCare program to 10 additional counties beginning April 1. The next phase includes Sandusky, Erie, Henry, Williams, Defiance, Paulding, Fayette, Fairfield, Licking and Ashtabula counties. OHA encourages hospitals and providers to review and share available resources to ensure they are prepared for the transition, including enrollment, contracting and claims submission processes. ODM has developed a communications toolkit with ready-to-use newsletter content, social media posts and provider resources to support outreach and education efforts. Allergy season is here, and experts from OHA member Cleveland Clinic say now is the time to take preventive steps. “Focus on avoidance techniques, medications and treatments like allergy shots,” said Cleveland Clinic allergist Sandra Hong, MD, in a release. Starting nasal steroid sprays before symptoms appear can help, while oral antihistamines can relieve sneezing and itching during the season. Simple measures such as keeping windows closed, showering after being outdoors and limiting pets in the bedroom can also reduce exposure to allergens.
