Stay Ahead of Spring Allergy Season with Tips From Cleveland Clinic

March 27, 2026

Allergy season is here, and experts from OHA member Cleveland Clinic say now is the time to take preventive steps.

“Focus on avoidance techniques, medications and treatments like allergy shots,” said Cleveland Clinic allergist Sandra Hong, MD, in a release. Starting nasal steroid sprays before symptoms appear can help, while oral antihistamines can relieve sneezing and itching during the season.

Simple measures such as keeping windows closed, showering after being outdoors and limiting pets in the bedroom can also reduce exposure to allergens. For persistent symptoms, Hong recommends consulting an allergist to identify triggers and explore personalized treatment options, including allergy shots or tablets.
