Registration Open for 2 OHA Fall Professional Society Conferences

Registration is now open for two OHA professional society fall conferences at the Quest Conference Center in Columbus.

The 2026 OSHRM-SOHA Fall Conference on Sept. 25 will bring together risk managers, attorneys and other hospital leaders to examine key legal, risk management and patient safety issues affecting hospitals.

The 2026 OSHFM Fall Conference on Oct. 15 will focus on facility management challenges and feature sessions on topics including Joint Commission updates, compliance, capital strategy and artificial intelligence. Register now to join colleagues and industry experts for these educational opportunities.

Also, save the date for the 2026 OONL Fall Conference, Nov. 4-6 at the Renaissance Columbus Westerville, with additional information to be announced in the coming weeks.

Ohio Leaders Recognize September as Sepsis Awareness Month

Gov. Mike DeWine and Lt. Gov. Jim Tressel have issued a proclamation declaring September as Sepsis Awareness Month in Ohio. The observance underscores the urgent need to combat sepsis, a deadly and costly condition, with early recognition and early intervention. For the past decade, OHA has led a statewide initiative to reduce sepsis mortality and support hospitals in implementing best practices. OHA Celebrates 111th Anniversary

This past Tuesday, Aug. 25, marked the 111th anniversary of OHA's founding at the Hotel Breakers in Sandusky. About 60 leaders of Ohio hospitals gathered in 1915 to form the nation’s first state hospital association. OHA formed, in part, to address state legislation regarding hospitals and public health. Over a century later, OHA exists to collaborate with member hospitals and health systems to promote a sustainable health care system so Ohioans have access to high-quality hospital care in their communities. Dolly Parton’s Legacy of Literacy Lives On Through Ohio Hospitals

Ohio hospitals are helping carry forward Dolly Parton’s legacy of literacy by connecting families with her Imagination Library from the earliest days of a child’s life. Parton, the legendary singer, songwriter and philanthropist whose Imagination Library has provided free books to millions of children, died this past week. Gov. Mike DeWine ordered flags at state buildings flown at half-staff Tuesday in her honor. Parton’s connection to Ohio grew significantly in 2019, when First Lady Fran DeWine spearheaded efforts to expand Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library to all 88 Ohio counties.
