Central Ohio Hospital CEOs Highlight Collaboration, Community at Opportunity Summit
Four Central Ohio hospital leaders and OHA members joined the stage at Columbus Business First‘s Opportunity Summit to discuss how collaboration is helping meet the health care needs of a growing and aging region.
John Warner, MD, CEO of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center; Stephen Markovich, MD, president and CEO of OhioHealth; Tauana McDonald, president and CEO of Mount Carmel Health System; and Tim Robinson, president and CEO of Nationwide Children’s Hospital, discussed their organizations’ collaborative efforts, operational challenges and extensive community benefit work.
Together, the four leaders serve on the Central Ohio Hospital Council Board of Directors and are working to help build health care capacity as Central Ohio’s population grows and patients require increasingly complex care.
“Every Ohioan should have great care. Every American should have great care. We should work together to make that happen,” Markovich said during the discussion.
Thursday’s event showed hospitals in Ohio are committed to working together to provide access to high-quality hospital care in their communities.
In recent months, OHA member hospital and health system leaders have participated in panel discussions like these across the state. For example, T. Clifford Deveny, MD, advisor and CEO emeritus for Summa Health served as a panelist in the April 23 Ohio Economic Forum at the University of Akron. There, they covered similar themes around strengthening Ohio’s health care system.
In March, the Cincinnati Business Courier hosted its annual Future of Health Care event featuring executives from five of the region’s major health systems. OHA member hospitals and health systems represented were TriHealth, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, UC Medical Center, Bon Secours Mercy Health, and The Christ Hospital Health Network.
