Register Now for Next Week’s OSHRM-SOHA Fall Conference

Risk management professionals, health care attorneys and hospital leaders from across Ohio will gather Friday, Sept. 25 for the 2026 OSHRM-SOHA Fall Conference at the Quest Conference Center in Columbus.

The annual conference will explore key legal, risk management and patient safety issues affecting hospitals and health systems. Sessions will feature expert perspectives on health care risk, medical board updates, patient safety, advocacy and emerging legal developments impacting health care organizations.

The conference is presented by the Ohio Society of Health Care Risk Managers and the Society for Ohio Health Care Attorneys. Continuing education credits, including CPHRM, CLE and nursing credits, are available for eligible participants.

Ohio Medicaid Work and Community Engagement Requirements Set for 2027

Ohio Medicaid members and health care providers are preparing for new federal work and community engagement requirements that will take effect Jan. 1, 2027, for certain adults enrolled in Medicaid expansion coverage. The new requirements apply to some adults ages 19-64 enrolled in Group VIII coverage, also known as MAGI Adult or Ribicoff coverage. Individuals who do not qualify for an exemption generally will need to complete at least 80 hours per month of approved activities, including employment, education, volunteer service or workforce training. Health Officials Encourage Preparation for Respiratory Virus Season

The Ohio Department of Health is encouraging Ohioans to take steps now to prepare for respiratory virus season, including staying up to date on recommended vaccinations, practicing good hygiene and taking precautions to help prevent the spread of illness. Health officials note that respiratory viruses, including flu, COVID-19 and RSV, can lead to serious complications for older adults, young children and individuals with underlying health conditions.
