Ohio-Based Pediatric Safety Network Marks Major Milestone in Preventing Harm

Children’s Hospitals’ Solutions for Patient Safety, or SPS, an international safety initiative launched in Ohio in 2009, has prevented more than 30,000 children from serious harm, per a state release last week. The initiative has also saved an estimated $668 million in health care costs. The network, which began with eight Ohio hospitals, now includes over 150 children’s hospitals across North America dedicated to achieving zero serious harm. Ohio leaders recently gathered at the Statehouse to celebrate the milestone and recognize the collaboration that made it possible.
