OHA Annual Meeting Approaches: Key Reminders for Attendees

With less than a month remaining until the 111th Ohio Hospital Association Annual Meeting & Education Summit, May 19-21 at the Hyatt Regency Columbus, attendees are encouraged to finalize plans and review important event details. Hotel rooms at the Hyatt Regency Columbus are sold out for the duration of the conference. Attendees seeking accommodations can access a list of nearby downtown hotels within walking distance, along with dining options during your stay, here.

SUBMIT SPECIAL ACCOMMODATIONS REQUESTS TODAY

Requests for special accommodations must be submitted by the end of the day Friday, April 24. OHA supports a range of needs, including dietary restrictions—such as vegetarian, gluten-free and non-dairy options—as well as physical accommodations and auxiliary services. Requests should be submitted in advance via email to Casey.Strader@ohiohospitals.org.

SEPARATE REGISTRATION FOR RECOGNITION DINNER

Attendees planning to participate in the annual OHA Recognition Dinner must register separately. The event will include a cocktail reception, dinner and awards ceremony honoring finalists for the Health Care Worker of the Year Award, along with recipients of our annual leadership awards. Gear Up for National Nurses Week with Tools from AONL

As National Nurses Week approaches May 6-12, the American Organization for Nursing Leadership is offering resources to help organizations recognize and celebrate nurse leaders. This year’s theme, “Leadership in Every Moment,” highlights the impact nurses have across all areas of care, from guiding teams through challenges to improving patient outcomes. AONL is encouraging hospitals to use its tools and programming to spotlight the contributions of nurse leaders in both large milestones and everyday interactions. Hospitals can access resources here to plan meaningful recognition efforts throughout the week.

Central Ohio Hospital CEOs to Headline Columbus Opportunity Summit

Central Ohio’s leading hospital systems will take center stage at this year’s Columbus Opportunity Summit, hosted by Columbus Business First, as the event shifts its focus to the region’s evolving health care landscape. The Aug. 27 summit will feature CEOs from the area’s largest health systems: John Warner, MD, of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Stephen Markovich, MD of OhioHealth, Tauana McDonald of Mount Carmel Health System and Tim Robinson of Nationwide Children's Hospital. National Prescription Drug Take Back Day Begins Saturday

The 30th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is set to begin at 10 a.m. Saturday. The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration hosts Drug Take Back Day to provide a safe, convenient and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of medications. The state of Ohio collected nearly 40,000 pounds of prescription drugs during the previous Take Back Day in October 2025. Click here to find disposal sites near you.

BGSU, Lake Erie College Partnership Expands Graduate Pathways in Health Fields

Bowling Green State University and Lake Erie College have launched a new partnership aimed at expanding graduate education opportunities in health and human performance fields. The agreement creates a pathway for Lake Erie students in exercise science and related programs to pursue advanced degrees in athletic training, physical therapy and occupational therapy at BGSU. The collaboration is designed to strengthen Ohio’s health care workforce and provide students with clearer routes to in-demand careers. Eligible programs include BGSU’s master’s in athletic training and doctoral programs in physical and occupational therapy, with flexible learning options available. Learn more here.
