Adena Health Welcomes Fairfield Medical Center Into Health System

Adena Health has completed its acquisition of Fairfield Medical Center, officially welcoming the Lancaster-based hospital into the health system and marking a significant milestone for both organizations.

As part of the transition, Fairfield Medical Center will become Adena Fairfield Medical Center, beginning a new chapter while continuing its longstanding mission of serving patients and communities throughout the region.

The acquisition follows the organizations’ announcement of a letter of intent earlier this year and reflects a shared commitment to expanding access to high-quality health care, particularly in rural and underserved communities. Leaders from both organizations emphasized that the partnership is rooted in common values and a culture centered on serving others.

“Today is a significant day in the more than 130-year history of Adena Health as we welcome Adena Fairfield Medical Center,” said Adena President and CEO Kathi Edrington. “We believe the people who live and work in this region deserve access to high-quality care they can trust, close to home.”

OHA Remembers Dr. Jay Iams

The Ohio Hospital Association joins colleagues across Ohio and the nation in mourning the loss of Dr. Jay D. Iams, an internationally renowned physician, researcher and champion for maternal and infant health. Dr. Iams passed away Aug. 19 following a battle with Alzheimer's disease. Ohio Leaders Recognize September as Sepsis Awareness Month

Gov. Mike DeWine and Lt. Gov. Jim Tressel have issued a proclamation declaring September as Sepsis Awareness Month in Ohio. The observance underscores the urgent need to combat sepsis, a deadly and costly condition, with early recognition and early intervention. For the past decade, OHA has led a statewide initiative to reduce sepsis mortality and support hospitals in implementing best practices.
