Several OHA Member Hospitals Receive AACN Patient Care Award

Firelands Regional Medical Center announced it is taking part in the Age-Friendly Health System Initiative, a nationwide movement to improve health care for older adults. The Women’s Board of Akron Children’s is hosting a series of events, running from April 12 to June 13, to raise funds for patient care programs at the hospital. These events have a range of themes, activities, food and locations, with names such as ‘Strikes for Tykes, a Bowling Party’ and ‘Mahjong and Mimosas’ to provide an activity for anyone. Read more

Since 2015, Nationwide Children’s has opened 20 school-based health centers, with the most recent opening recently on the Groveport Madsion High School campus. The partnership was created to bring support and health care to staff and students, with the facility featuring two exam rooms, a lab and three dental care rooms. Read more

Lima Memorial and Faith Christian Church this week partnered to fight child food insecurity during National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day. Participants gathered at the hospital to make dozens of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with supplies provided by Faith Christian Church, which then will be distributed to children in food-insecure areas of Lima. The program aimed to not only feed children in need, but to raise awareness about hunger in the area. Read more
