Avita Health System Adds New Surgical Robot at Bucyrus Hospital

Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and Kettering Health are teaming up to launch a scholarship program for medical students. This program will not only alleviate financial burden of students, but will also strengthen the physician workforce and improve health outcomes in Ohio, particularly in underserved communities. This distinction is the highest recognition for professional nursing practice, achieved by less than 2% of hospitals in the nation. The Christ Hospital Health Network is among the first in its region to use a robotic approach to reduce pain in lung surgery. This procedure involves a single-port probiotic system, in which a surgeon operates with a camera and surgical tools through a small opening. This innovation allows surgeons to avoid going between ribs, which is a major pain source in many chest surgeries. While this technology isn't new, its use in this type of lung surgery marks a first locally. Read more
