Work Requirement Implementation: New Resources Now Available

The Work and Community Engagement Requirement implementation is rapidly approaching and will come into effect on Jan. 1, 2027. To help stakeholders prepare for this transition, the Ohio Department of Medicaid has refreshed the Group VIII webpage with accessible information and resources.

ODM has created a dedicated “For Providers” version of the webpage alongside the “For Members” version. In addition to detailing the requirement itself, the providers’ section highlights technical information, including relevant federal guidance and policy language. Additionally, the webpage includes links to updated resources like the communications Partner Packet and list of ICD-10 codes that ODM is planning to use to identify individuals who are medically frail.

Join HHS, CMS for Informative Webinar on Make Hospital Food Healthy Again Pledge

Join representatives from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 26 to learn more about the voluntary Make Hospital Food Healthier Pledge and how hospitals and health systems can participate. Submit Proposal to Present at 2027 OHA Annual Membership Meeting

OHA is accepting proposals for educational presentations at the 112th OHA Annual Membership Meeting, with submissions due Dec. 31, 2026. Presentations should be 60 minutes, including time for questions, and address one of six educational tracks: Clinical Excellence Finance Strategy & Sustainability Innovative Nursing Practice & Leadership Legal, Compliance & Risk Strategic Health Care Leadership Workforce Strategy & Employee Experience Proposals will be reviewed by OHA member representatives, professional membership group leaders and OHA staff, with preference given to topics broadly applicable to the hospital community. Nominate a Health Care Hero for 2027 OHA Health Care Worker of the Year

OHA is accepting nominations for the 2027 Albert E. Dyckes Health Care Worker of the Year Award, which recognizes an exceptional front-line health care worker from an OHA member hospital or health system. Nominations are due Monday, Nov. 30, 2026. Each member hospital may nominate one eligible employee who routinely goes beyond the call of duty, reflects their organization’s mission and values and gives back to the community. Direct caregivers, support personnel and physicians are eligible. Two high-resolution photos, including at least one headshot, must accompany each nomination. Save Your Spot at Upcoming 2026 OONL Fall Conference

The Ohio Hospital Association and the Ohio Organization for Nursing Leadership invite members and Ohio nurse leaders to attend the in-person fall conference from Nov. 4-6 at the Renaissance Hotel Westerville. This year’s theme is “Nursing: Back to Our Future.” This event explores how lessons from our past can help navigate the future of nursing leadership, workforce development, innovation and patient care.
