Team Tressel Fitness Challenge Expands to 1,300 Ohio Schools

February 6, 2026

The second round of the Team Tressel Fitness Challenge has launched in 1,376 Ohio schools, engaging more than 390,000 students in a 30-day program focused on fitness, nutrition and sleep. Led by Lt. Gov. Jim Tressel, the initiative encourages students in grades three through eight to set SMART goals while building lifelong healthy habits.

The challenge is part of Gov. Mike DeWine’s broader effort to improve health and wellness across Ohio and follows a first round that reached nearly 183,000 students last fall. This year’s program includes an updated curriculum and support from former collegiate and professional athletes serving as “Challenge Captains” to motivate students statewide.
