AHA, OHA Resources Available for Workplace Violence Awareness Month

April 3, 2026

April is Workplace Violence Awareness Month, and AHA and OHA are spotlighting a range of resources to help hospitals strengthen workforce safety and prevention efforts.

Through its Hospitals Against Violence initiative, AHA offers guidance including toolkits, case studies and issue briefs focused on building safer work environments and mitigating risks. Resources also address preparedness for targeted violence and active shooter incidents, as well as strategies to support staff affected by trauma.

OHA offers a range of workplace violence prevention resources to support member hospitals, including model codes of conduct, policy templates and guidance aligned with The Joint Commission standards. OHA’s efforts include a three-tiered strategy focused on public awareness, a statewide code of conduct and legislative engagement, along with a webinar series and curated tools.
