Survey: Corporate Health Insurance Companies are Primary Driver of Rising Health Care Costs in the US
The Coalition to Strengthen America’s Healthcare this week announced results of a new survey conducted by Morning Consult examining public perceptions about health care and the main drivers of health care costs. The results show that voters associate corporate health insurance companies more than any other sector with rising health care costs, want doctors — not corporate insurers — to make medical decisions, and would be more likely to support candidates who back reforms to hold corporate health insurers accountable.
The polling is part of the Coalition’s broader effort to counter misleading narratives about health care costs, highlight the essential role hospitals and health systems play in delivering care, and reinforce the importance of protecting access to 24/7 care in communities nationwide.
The Coalition is sharing the findings with the media and will promote the results on social media to amplify the message and drive awareness of the growing public concern surrounding corporate insurer-driven costs and barriers to care.
