Ohio Ends Measles Outbreak, Sees Rise in Whooping Cough

OHA, in partnership with the Ohio Department of Health, offers two on-demand independent study trainings to support statewide medical surge preparedness and response. Hospital leaders can access trainings on Ohio’s crisis standards of care and the burn surge response plan, each covering core concepts, response protocols and activation procedures. The modules include brief presentations, key document reviews and a post-test. Participants must complete these trainings by Aug. 31.

For several years the Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, agency followed a policy under which it would not conduct enforcement actions near certain “sensitive areas” – such as hospitals, schools and churches, unless there were exigent circumstances. Wright State University and Indiana University East have partnered to streamline training for medical lab professionals. The new program lets students complete foundational science studies at IU East, then transfer to Wright State for clinical training and certification. Graduates earn dual credentials and are prepared for high-demand health care roles.
