Lyme disease, transmitted by the blacklegged tick, has significantly increased in Ohio since the species became established in the state in 2010. Health officials urge clinicians to consider Lyme and other tickborne illnesses when diagnosing patients with fever, fatigue, or rash and to be familiar with appropriate lab testing protocols. The Ohio Department of Health emphasizes the importance of timely treatment for suspected cases of Lyme. Prompt reporting of suspected cases to local health departments is also critical. OhioHealth is among a group of leading U.S. health systems committing over $100 million in student loan repayment to support clinical workforce development through a partnership with Clasp, a recruitment platform focused on retention. The model allows employers to offer loan repayment of up to $75,000 over three years, starting while students are still in school and tied to long-term employment milestones.
