OHA Announces Annual Leadership Award Recipients

In recognition of National Hospital Week, May 11-17, OHA today announced the honorees of its annual leadership awards to be recognized at OHA’s annual recognition dinner event, during the association’s annual meeting on May 20 at the Hyatt Regency Columbus.

This year’s leadership award honorees are:

  • Lisa Klenke, CEO, Mercer Health, will receive OHA’s Donald R. Newkirk Award. The award recognizes an individual who has made a significant contribution to the health care profession in Ohio.
  • Brian Smith, president & COO (retired), Bon Secours Mercy Health, will receive OHA’s James R. Castle Distinguished Service Award, which honors an individual whose professional attainments embody qualities of an outstanding leader or mentor for service to the health care community.
  • Disappearing Doctors will receive OHA’s Dr. Eli Crew Community Service Excellence Award. This award recognizes an individual’s or organization’s support of the health care industry.

“The contributions and impact of the honorees for our annual leadership awards this year are remarkable and we are honored to recognize their achievements,” said Mike Abrams, OHA president and CEO.

Plan Ahead: Parking Options for 2025 OHA Annual Meeting

The OHA Annual Meeting is at a new venue this year, and we've compiled several parking options to ensure your trip to the Hyatt Regency Columbus is as smooth as possible. For those staying overnight at the Hyatt, the underground garage (52 E. Nationwide Blvd., 43215) and the Chestnut Street garage (44 E. Chestnut, 43215) offer the option to charge the parking to your room. Importance of Medicaid to Seniors Highlighted in New Coalition Ad

The Coalition to Strengthen America’s Healthcare this week released a new 30-second television and digital advertisement about a family considering whether it can afford to send an elderly relative to a nursing home if Congress makes cuts to Medicaid. The program covers 5 in 8 nursing home residents, according to KFF data. The ad is the latest in the Coalition’s national “Faces of Medicaid” campaign. OHA is a member of the Coalition.
