ODH Reports First Measles Outbreak of 2026

Ohio health officials have confirmed the state’s first measles cases and outbreak of 2026, involving three unvaccinated children from one household in Cuyahoga County, according to the Ohio Department of Health.

ODH Director Bruce Vanderhoff, MD, said the state is working with local health officials to identify potential exposures and promote vaccination. Vanderhoff emphasized that measles is highly contagious but preventable, urging families to ensure children and adults are up to date on the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine.
