OHA’s Opioid Overdose Dashboard has been updated with data through the second quarter of 2025. The data is derived from the more than 39 million annual coded hospital encounters in Ohio. The release of per-capita rates by county as well as by market area are intended to assist health policymakers, funders and local collaboratives in their work. While Q1 2025 had the fewest overdose encounters (1,133) since OHA began tracking the data in 2016, Q2 saw an increase of 262 more overdose encounters. National Prescription Drug Take Back Day is set to begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25. The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration hosts Drug Take Back Day to provide a safe, convenient and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the public about the potential for abuse of medications. The state of Ohio collected more than 30,000 pounds of prescription drugs during the previous Take Back Day in April of this year. Click here to find disposal sites near you.

The Ohio Department of Medicaid is implementing its Next Generation MyCare program Jan. 1, 2026, in the 29 counties where MyCare Ohio is available today. Those counties are located in Ohio's large urban areas. Later in 2026, the program will be available in the rest of Ohio.
