Help Protect Health Care Workers with Workplace Violence Prevention Resources
April 10, 2026
As Workplace Violence Awareness Month is observed in April, recent data underscores the growing risks facing health care workers.
- The American College of Emergency Physicians reports more than 90% of emergency physicians experienced threats or attacks in the past year.
- The American Association of Occupational Health Nurses found nearly half of nurses report physical violence and 68% report verbal abuse.
- The American Hospital Association estimates the financial impact of workplace violence on hospitals exceeds $18 billion annually.
OHA encourages members to access and share available resources, including our Hospital Violence Prevention Toolkit and the educational video above, to support staff safety and strengthen prevention efforts. View and share a video from the Nevada Hospital Association on nurse safety here.
Leveraging these tools can help hospitals build safer environments and address workplace violence through coordinated, proactive strategies.
