ODH to Preview New Ohio Vital Records System

The Ohio Department of Health, or ODH, Bureau of Vital Statistics is inviting stakeholders to preview and provide feedback on the new Ohio Vital Records System, or OVRS. This system, set to replace the Integrated Perinatal Health Information System, or IPHIS, and the Electronic Death Registration System, or EDRS, will be the sole electronic platform for recording births and deaths in Ohio starting Jan. 1, 2025.

To facilitate this transition, ODH’s vendor, VitalChek, will conduct virtual demonstrations tailored to different stakeholder groups, covering relevant topics and processes. Invitations for these sessions are being sent via email to current IPHIS-EDRS users.

If you are a current user and have not received an invitation before your group’s scheduled meeting, contact VS.Helpdesk@odh.ohio.gov.

DeWine Taps Directors of Behavioral Health, Developmental Disabilities

Gov. Mike DeWine this week announced that he is nominating Tia Marcel Moretti as director of the Ohio Department of Behavioral Health, or DBH, and Lyndsay Nash as director of the Ohio Department of Developmental Disabilities, or DODD. Moretti has an extensive background working with community-based mental health and addiction services. She had been serving as interim director of DBH and previously spent time as DeWine’s deputy director of RecoveryOhio. Nash had been serving as interim director of DODD, and previously served as in-house counsel, director of compliance and assistant director of the department. Last Chance for Presentation Proposals! Submit for Annual Meeting by Dec. 31

OHA is seeking evidence-based presentations, case studies and practical tools that address current issues facing Ohio hospitals. Presented at the 111th OHA Annual Meeting in May 2026, proposals must be submitted by Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025. Submissions will be reviewed by committees of hospital leaders and subject matter experts, with a focus on relevance, clarity and real-world applicability. Prospective presenters are encouraged to submit proposals aligned with one of the event’s designated educational tracks.
