The Ohio Cancer Incidence Surveillance System awarded Wood County Hospital the Gold Award for excellence in timely and accurate cancer data reporting. The diagnosis reporting they do is important to the cancer registry, as it helps researchers identify patterns, track trends and develop strategies that improve outcomes for patients statewide. In addition to the Gold Award, the hospital has received several other honors in health care recently. Read more

An 8,800 square-foot expansion has been planned for the Christ Hospital in Liberty Township in the labor and delivery unit. Throughout the two-floor unit, five new delivery and postpartum rooms, allowing for up to 14 more patients, will be added. This addition was set in motion due to the 20 percent increase in patients in the birthing unit in the last year. Read more

The University of Toledo is hosting its annual Trunk-or Treat evert, an alternative to outdoor, nighttime trick-or-treating. This event, taking place this Saturday from 3:30-5 p.m., is free and open to the public. It will feature 40 candy stations, face paint, temporary tattoos, donuts and a trunk decorating contest.
