Akron Children’s Opens Tom and Jill Zidian Family Autism Center

St. Rita’s Medical Center is launching an Obstetrical Emergency Department, allowing patients experiencing pregnancy-related concerns to quickly see an obstetrics specialist, instead of going to the traditional emergency room. All pregnancy-related complaints for women who at or over 20 weeks gestation are directed to the OBED to receive specialized care. This new department will allow access to private labor and delivery suites, 24-hour obstetric anesthesia and more. Read more

Adena Fayette Medical Center will be hosting a Gala, themed “Hospital in Paradise,” from 6 to 10 p.m. on Dec. 12. The event cost is $100 and will include food, fellowship and a silent and live auction. The funds from this event will support the currently under construction Adena Fayette Medical Center. This new center will feature modern patient care areas and opportunities for expanded services. Read more

The cardiac catheterization lab at University Hospitals’ St. John Medical Center new $2 million renovation showed its value when Dan Rosing came to the center as a eucharistic minister volunteer. During his time there, he suffered from a non-STEMI heart attack, but was treated with state-of-the-art technology from the renovation, even receiving a cardiac catheterization using advanced techniques to replace his 2-decade old stents. Eight-year-old golden Labrador retriever, Korey, has joined the team at Dayton VA Medical Center, as program analyst and air force veteran Joel Legawiec’s service animal. This loving and personable dog has even been promoted to staring in several marketing materials for the center and even making it on the national Department of Veterans Affairs website. Korey has continued to boost engagement and morale since. Read more
