2025 OHA Annual Meeting Kicks Off Monday; Still Time to Register

It’s officially (almost) here! The 110th OHA Annual Meeting & Education Summit begins Monday at the Hyatt Regency Columbus, where we will host 96 educational sessions in a setting where members can gather to learn, share ideas, create new ideas, ignite motivation and expand their knowledge. The three-day conference features multiple keynote speakers, statewide awards, our annual Recognition Dinner and The Joint Commission’s special “Accreditation of the Future” event to close things out on Wednesday.

We can’t wait to see your faces this week as health care leaders from across the state join us for this special gathering in Columbus.

Ohio-Based Pediatric Safety Network Marks Major Milestone in Preventing Harm

Children’s Hospitals’ Solutions for Patient Safety, or SPS, an international safety initiative launched in Ohio in 2009, has prevented more than 30,000 children from serious harm, per a state release last week. The initiative has also saved an estimated $668 million in health care costs. The network, which began with eight Ohio hospitals, now includes over 150 children’s hospitals across North America dedicated to achieving zero serious harm. Ohio leaders recently gathered at the Statehouse to celebrate the milestone and recognize the collaboration that made it possible. Read more here.

AIM Launches Summer Learning Series on Obstetric Readiness

The Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health, or AIM, is hosting a five-part biweekly Obstetric Readiness Summer Sprint Learning Series from June 25 through Aug. 13. Each 75-minute session will explore key topics such as emergency planning, simulation training, EMS collaboration and readiness in rural or resource-limited settings. Health care providers and staff are encouraged to register for individual sessions to gain actionable strategies for improving OB emergency preparedness. ODM Expands Doula Service Flexibility for Medicaid Providers

The Ohio Department of Medicaid has updated its Provider Network Management, or  PNM, module, allowing more flexibility for independent providers who wish to offer doula services. Providers with an active Medicaid agreement and a doula certification from the Ohio Board of Nursing can now add the doula specialty (090) as a secondary specialty without giving up their current service lines. The update aims to expand access to doula care for pregnant women enrolled in Ohio Medicaid. For instructions on updating specialties, providers can consult the PNM Learning tab and must include certification documentation when submitting their request.

CDC Updates Travel Advisory Amid Global Measles Surge

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, or CDC, has updated its travel advisory as global measles cases continue to rise, urging all international travelers to ensure they are fully vaccinated. The CDC reports that at least 62 travelers have brought measles into the U.S. so far in 2025, most of them unvaccinated. Measles spreads easily through coughing and sneezing and can linger in the air or on surfaces for up to two hours. The CDC advises travelers to receive the measles-mumps-rubella vaccine at least two weeks before departure. Read more here.
