OHA Presents Klenke, Smith, Disappearing Doctors with Annual Leadership Awards

After announcing our annual leadership award honorees during National Hospital Week, OHA handed out the hardware at our Recognition Dinner Tuesday amid the 110th Annual Meeting & Education Summit.

Lisa Klenke, CEO, Mercer Health, received OHA’s Donald R. Newkirk Award, which recognizes an individual who has made a significant contribution to the health care profession in Ohio. Brian Smith, president & COO (retired), Bon Secours Mercy Health, earned OHA’s James R. Castle Distinguished Service Award, which honors an individual whose professional attainments embody qualities of an outstanding leader or mentor for service to the health care community.

Disappearing Doctors received OHA’s Dr. Eli Crew Community Service Excellence Award. This award recognizes an individual’s or organization’s support of the health care industry.

Avita Health System's Nick Cline Named 2025 OHA Health Care Worker of the Year

OHA on Tuesday awarded the 2025 Albert E. Dyckes Health Care Worker of the Year Award to Nick Cline, EMS & Training Center manager, Avita Bucyrus Hospital. The ceremony took place during OHA's annual Recognition Dinner at our 110th Annual Meeting & Education Summit at the Hyatt Regency Columbus. Cline also serves as the American Heart Association instructor and clinical educator at Avita Bucyrus Hospital. Cline coordinates the Avita’s STEMI program, serving as the bridge between area EMS and Avita’s Interventional Cardiac Catheterization program. 2 OHA Member Hospitals Announce Leadership Transitions

Adena Health and Wilson Health have named new leaders following the retirement of longtime executives. Adena Health appointed Andrew Bauer as senior operations executive officer of Adena Pike Medical Center and vice president of its east and south regions, effective Sept. 1. Bauer, a Pike County native and current director of operations, succeeds Dave Zanni, who retires in August after more than a decade of service. Meanwhile, Wilson Health named COO Julie Covault as acting CEO following the April 11 retirement of President and CEO Mark Klosterman.

OHA Hospital Violence Webinar Series Returns with Final Installment May 29

OHA's Hospital Violence Webinar Series returns this month with the final edition of the 6-part series, focused on reducing lateral violence and bullying in health care settings. The 30-minute session will be held from 1-1:30 p.m. May 29 and is free for all OHA members. The session will include expert insights and an open Q&A. HR professionals, nurse leaders, safety officers and other hospital staff are encouraged to attend and learn strategies to foster safer work environments. Register here.
